The historic village of Yungaburra, where the Chalet is situated, was established in 1890 and has a total of 24 buildings heritage listed with the National Trust of Queensland. This includes our local pub (Lake Eacham Hotel) established in 1910 which features beautiful Silky Oak and Queensland Maple timbers.
A brochure is available with a map showing where each building is situated and a corresponding number will give you the appropiate information. This is just a gentle stroll around our beautiful village, a pleasant way to pass some time when you come to visit.
There is also a couple of wildlife walks close by where platypus, tree kangaroo, amazing birdlife and various other wildlife can be seen.
Our markets are one of the largest in North Queensland and are held on the fourth Saturday of the month 7am to 12.30pm. In December they are held usually the weekend before Christmas on either Saturday or Sunday. Please feel free to ring the shop to check or the Information Centre on 07 4095 2416.
Once a year Yungaburra's population grows and overflows when "Folk Festival" time arrives. On the fourth weekend of October music lovers flock into the village to enjoy a feast of music and variety acts starting Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon.
The choice of accommodation and dining in and around Yungaburra is quite staggering. From award winning in both accommodation and fine dining to boutique, to motel or to camping, there is something for everyone.
Come and enjoy our hospitality and our close proximity to surrounding icons and attractions.
