The Chalet Rainforest Gallery was established in November 1995 as a tourist attraction in its own right, as well as a quality retail outlet which showcases the wonderful work of many local artists. Proudly promoting local, Queensland and Australian made products where possible, the Chalet also carries a range of affordable gifts and souvenirs.
Housed in an iconic building, the Chalet is a well established and reputable business, receiving recognition from the tourism industry as a winner in 1999, 2000 and 2001 in the Far North Queensland Tourism Awards and state finalist in the Queensland Tourism Awards. The awards were given in the categories "Arts Tourism" and "Tourism Retailing". It was also listed in the 2002 "Hall Of Fame" Tourism Awards.
